Conjuring the Storm

This song was written in a very different manner than my usual approach. I wrote it "linearly." That is, I basically pitched out this whole idea of "verses" and "choruses" and whatnot, and just let the song take me where it wanted to go. There was no plan. It never does get around to a single theme, but explores several different ideas. When it was done, I couldn't believe how well the song worked musically, even with its lack of a distinct structure. Breaking with convention sometimes works out, I guess. This song was one of the most challenging songs I've ever recorded, as there are nearly 32 distinct tracks, mostly guitar. The guitar solo parts turned out interesting; most of them also weren't planned out... mostly just me improving at 2:00 in the morning. Overall I feel that this piece is one of the most artful that I've ever done. When you get to the end of the song, you'll understand the title.
